Photos in this view are tiled, i.e. arranged with the least possible distance between them. |
|
"Moments view" |
Photos taken on the same occasion are grouped together. |
|
"Table view" |
Photos are adapted and displayed in equally sized table cells. |
|
"Filter Photo by" |
You can also filter photos by:
|
|
"Clear all filters" |
Removes the previously activated filter. |
|
"Sort by date taken" |
Display photos in the chronological order in which they were taken. |
|
"Sort by rating" |

Manually adding photos in the workspace using the traditional means of photo selection gives you the best possible control over the selection of your photos. Using the directory browser in the selection area, open up the directory containing your photos. Highlight the thumbnail of the desired photo in the selection area and drag it into the workspace holding the left-hand mouse button down. The dropdown menu (right mouse click on the photo preview in the photo explorer) contains various sorting options, including alphabetical (by name) and chronological (by date created). If you select "Sort by colour", then the photos from the current directory will be displayed in a separate program window in groups ordered by colour mood. Click on the "Use selected photo" button and the selected photo will be transferred to the active placeholder.
Photos that are already being used in the product will be indicated by means of a tick on the thumbnail in the selection area. You can drag an image into the workspace several times, e.g. if you want to print a different size, or edit the same image using different functions in the photoshow. You also have a variety of assistants available to use. For more details refer to the chapters covering the respective assistants.
|
Note: If you would like to use the pre-installed page layouts, I recommend that in the "Settings" (see the chapter "Settings"), you set the editor so that the photo is adjusted to fit the placeholder. This is the "Maintain frame size, crop and centre the photo" setting. If, however, the placeholders are adjusted to fit the photo, then the gaps and aspect ratios of the frames will no longer be correct. You can specify good image details at a later stage by panning and zooming images within the layout frame.
On the other hand, if you would like to add your photos in their original aspect ratio, I recommend that in the "Settings" (see the chapter "Settings"), you set the editor so that the placeholder adjusts to fit your photo. This is the setting "Change placeholders so that images fill the frames". |
|
Photos at edge of page: To prevent so-called white space, photos should not be too close to the edge (the limit is 2 to 5 mm from the edge) or protrude over the edge. Otherwise there is an unattractive gap (in the colour of the page background) between the image and the edge of the page in production. That is why there is a (catch) function that automatically pulls images placed at the edge of the page over it. In the "Settings" (see the chapter "Settings") under "Photo Enhancements" you will find the function "Automatically position photos if they are too near the edge?"
The following settings are available
|
You can recognise highlighted photos by the highlighted border around the photo. To highlight several consecutive photos at the same time, drag a selection frame around the photos to be highlighted using the mouse, or highlight the first photo to be deleted and, holding down the shift key on the keyboard, highlight the last photo to be deleted. To select (or deselect) multiple non-consecutive images hold down the "Ctrl" key and click on the image with your mouse.
The photo to be moved must be highlighted (active) and the cursor must be over the editing frame. The mouse cursor will then change into a cross with arrows. Then, move the photo by holding down the left mouse button and dragging it to the position where your photo is to appear, or by using the arrow keys on the keyboard.
When an image placeholder is selected, you can use the different handles on the corners to resize an image to your desired size.
Using the handle just inside the editing frame, you can rotate this frame around its centre by holding the mouse down. Alternatively, you can do exact rotations of 90°, by using the commands "Rotate Frame Clockwise" and "Rotate Frame Anti-Clockwise" in the toolbar or the dropdown menu (right mouse button).
You can delete a photo from the workspace by highlighting it (clicking on it) and then clicking the "Delete" button on the toolbar. Alternatively you can simply click the "Del" key on your keyboard. If you have applied a template or a frame to the photo, the template/frame is removed the first time you click delete, the photo is removed the second time and the photo placeholder is removed the third time.
The software naturally gives you the option of editing images. These functions are described in the chapter "CEWE PHOTOSHOW".
Some digital cameras and smartphones are able to take stereo/3D photos in *.mpo and *.jps file formats. These stereo/3D photos are displayed in the selection area and converted to an anaglyph image when they are added to a photobook page. With the help of red/cyan glasses, these photos create a 3D effect in the printed or developed photobook.
|
Caution! For 3D/stereo photos in JPS format (JPEG Stereo), there is no standard as to which photo is responsible for which eye. As a result, a dialogue window appears automatically which can be used to check the depth and adjust the assignment using suitable 3D glasses. Alternatively, you can also select just the right or left photo as a 2D photo. This dialogue can be enabled and disabled in Settings. (see the chapter "Settings"). |
